In all the years my partner and I have been travelling around the world (about 16 since you ask), this is the ONLY hotel we have have ever deliberately gone back to. It did not disappoint. The location is umbeatable, but is matched by the quality of the rooms and the public areas, and most of all by the staff who are unfailingly friendly and helpful. If you're after glitz and glamour this place is not for you, but if you want a fabulous location, comfort, cleanliness, good facilities and great service then this is one of the world's outstanding hotels.

Having read Trip Advisor comments, I booked this hotel with not a little fear and trepidation but needn`t have worried. Yes, the room was small (made up for in the fact that the window overlooked the walls of the Mezsquite). I`ve had a comfier bed but there was adequate wardrobe space and the bathroom was good; breakfast excellent with good choice of hot/cold buffet. Staff were OK given that this was an obviously busy hotel. The hotel itself is physically beautiful both internally and externally and the roman remains under the glass floor amazing.
Top Tip
Must sees - the Mezquita, the lovely narrow lanes opening onto squares and amazing little shops. Numerous tapas bars and restaurants. The ongoing restoration works with all the history involved. The Alcazar with the lovely gardens/restorations and if lucky, evening concerts.

Staff are excellent and very helpful.
Top Tip
Hotel is centrally situated in the old town. Historic sights all between 1 & 15 mins. walking at the most. Botanical gardens are a must. Take a day trip by train to Montora(50 min.journey)- its worth a visit - the locals don't speak English - but are friendly and helpful. Buy bus tickets at the bus station before you board the bus (about 3euros). Pay for your return journey on the bus.
