Getting Around - Cordoba

Cordoba Airport

There are no direct, budget flights to Córdoba from the UK. The nearest airports are Madrid, Malaga and Seville. The easiest way to reach Córdoba from these cities is by train.

  • From Madrid

Ryanair flies to Madrid from Bournemouth, East Midlands and Dublin. EasyJet flies there from Bristol, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Gatwick and Luton. The high-speed AVE train to Córdoba departs roughly every hour from Madrid’s Puerta de Atocha station, just south of the city centre. It takes no more than 2 hours to reach its destination and costs about €50.

  • From Seville

Ryanair flies to Seville from Dublin, Liverpool and Stansted. The high-speed AVE train departs hourly from Santa Justa train station, to the east of the city centre. It takes roughly 45 minutes to reach Córdoba and costs about €30.

  • From Malaga

Easyjet flies to Malaga from Glasgow, Bristol, Liverpool, Gatwick, Luton, Stansted and Newcastle. The central train station in Malaga is located at Explanada de la Estación in the city centre. The new, high-speed Talgo 200 trains connect Malaga and Cordoba. 6 trains depart daily and take no more than 2 hours to reach their destination. Fares cost about €15.

General Transport

The historical centre of Córdoba is a compact maze of mostly narrow streets, so the easiest – and most interesting – way to get around it is on foot. Outside of this area, the city’s buses are generally efficient and reliable. Most of the stops have clear route maps, with the average wait for a bus rarely exceeding 15 minutes. Managed by Aucorsa, all the buses are brightly painted single-deckers, with a pay-as-you board system for single journeys. Services start at about 06:30 and run until midnight.

Taxis can be hailed in the street and there are taxi stations at Avenida de América (near the Hotel Gran Capitán), at the corner of El Corte Inglés, and near the Hotel Meliá, among other locations. Taxis are metered and the minimum fare is about €3. Fares are higher at night and on public holidays.

If you arriving in Córdoba at the train station (Estación de Trenes), you will be charged an additional amount for every piece of luggage you carry. When in doubt, check the sticker of official fares which should be found on the taxi’s back window. If you're dissatisfied with either the fare or the driver, remember to record the taxi's license number.
